Happy Birthday Luther Vandross!

The Meyers Music Reports sends Happy Birthday wishes to the memory of Luther Vandross who would’ve been 62 years old today. After many years of singing commercial jingles and background session work, as well as stints in several groups, Luther Vandross’ solo career took off in 1981 with the release of his debut album NEVER TOO MUCH.

That album was a multi-platinum success and reached number one on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums charts, as did his following six albums!

Vandross suffered a major stroke in April 2003 which left him in a coma for two months. He would never fully recover and remained under medical care for the next two years. On Friday, July 1, 2005 at 1:47pm, EST, Luther Vandross died.
